DVCTA Year End Awards

Categories:

Annual Awards for DVCTA members are given in four categories:

  1. DVCTA Dressage Schooling Shows
  2. USEF/USDF Recognized Dressage Shows
  3. DVCTA-Sanctioned Horse Trials and Combined Tests
  4. USEA Recognized Horse Trials

Champion and Reserve Champion, as well as 3rd through 6th place awards, will be given in all categories.  The Awards year is the calendar year, January 1st through December 31st.   The awards are announced in January and are presented at the DVCTA Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner.

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. All riders must be DVCTA members, and must have served 8 hours of volunteer time at any DVCTA activity.
  2. A horse may have only one rider, and horse and rider may not have competed as a team at any show or event that is two levels above the level of the award.
  3. Horse/rider combinations may qualify and receive awards at two consecutive levels.
  4. To be eligible for Freestyle Awards, the horse/rider combination must be showing the freestyle at the same or one level below their open competition level.
  5. Champions at a level are ineligible for an award at that level or a lower level in subsequent years.

DVCTA Schooling Show Awards:

  1. Awards will be offered at the following levels:  Introductory, Training, First, Second, Third, Fourth and FEI.  Freestyle Awards will be for individual, Pas de Deux and Quadrille scores at First through Fourth Levels and FEI.
  2. Horse and Rider combinations must have 3 scores from 3 different judges, and scores must be 58% or above.    At least one of the qualifying tests must be Test 4 or the highest test in that level.  The three scores will be averaged to produce a single score for award purposes.
  3. All scores must come from DVCTA schooling shows
  4. Special Award:  The Andy Gilbert Memorial Trophy - Awarded each year to the horse in it’s first year competing at Training Level with the highest Training Level score from a DVCTA Schooling Show.

USDF/USEF Recognized Dressage Show Awards

  1. Awards will be offered at all levels, and each level will contain the following divisions:  Adult Amateur, Junior/Young Rider, Masters and Professional.  Freestyle Awards will be given for Individual, Pas de Deux and Quadrille.
  2. Horse/Rider combinations must submit 3 tests from 3 different judges with minimum qualifying scores of 58%.  At least one of the qualifying tests must be Test 4 or the highest test in that level.  Scores must come from USDF Recognized Dressage Shows.  The three scores will be averaged to produce a final score for award purposes.   Riders are responsible for submitting results to:

DVCTA-Sanctioned Horse Trials and Combined Test Awards

  1. Awards will be offered at Beginner Novice, Novice and a combined Elementary/Intro division, and each level will contain the following categories:  Adult Amateur, Junior, Masters, and Professional.
  2. Horse/Rider combinations must submit 3 competition results, including placing and final score for each event.

USEA Recognized Horse Trial Awards

  1. Awards will be offered at Beginner Novice, Novice, Training and Preliminary  and above.  Each level will contain the following categories:  Adult Amateur, Junior, Masters, and Professional.
  2. Horse/Rider combinations must submit 3 competition results, including placing and final score for each event, OR a copy of the USEA Competition Score Report, available on the USEA website.  Riders are responsible for submitting results to:

DVCTA Championship Show

Championship classes will be offered at Training through Fourth levels, as well as FEI.  The Championship tests will be TR-3, 1st-3, 2nd-3, 3rd-2, 4th-2 and FEI Test of Choice.

To qualify for the championship classes, horse/rider combination must have two tests from DVCTA schooling shows with minimum scores of 58%. The tests must be from two different judges.  All tests must be ridden from memory, and dress is the same as for a recognized show.  The qualifying period is the current year’s schooling show season.  Horse/rider combinations may qualify at more than one level, but may only compete at a single level.  A horse may only have one rider.  Except for FEI, previous winners are ineligible to compete at that level or lower.
