The purpose of The Marilyn O. Heath Judges Education Fund is to provide judge training scholarships to DVCTA members in good standing, and assist organizers in funding DVCTA sponsored dressage judge education programs.  This fund is named in honor of Marilyn O. Heath, a long time DVCTA member, dressage rider, instructor, mentor and Chair of the USDF ‘L’ Education Program Committee for her enthusiastic commitment to improving dressage judging education in America.

DVCTA Scholarship

• Applicant must be a DVCTA member in good standing for a minimum of 2 years at the time of application.
• An individual may apply for a scholarship no more than once every 2 years.
• A minimum of 20 hours of volunteer service within a 2-year period.

Funds must be used for specifically stated objectives (i.e. clinic, riding camp, seminar, etc.) Scholarship money may not be used for regular lesson programs, tack, clothing, or show expenses. It is to be used for educational purposes only.

The applicant must agree to write an account of the experience and submit it for publication in the DVCTA newsletter. This must be submitted within 60 days of the event or the scholarship is void. The check for the scholarship will be given after the article in the newsletter is published.

The Maximum amount of scholarship money to be awarded is $500.00.

The scholarship committee makes all final decisions as to whether to award a scholarship and the amount of the grant based on the applicant meeting the above requirements. The applicant must fill out a scholarship form and send it to the committee chair.

SMARTPHONES APPS FREE

The mobile application gives those involved in horse sport fast and easy access to crucial information on prohibited substances.

The iPhone and Android apps enable users to navigate the Equine Prohibited Substances database that has featured on the FEI website since April 2010.  When a searchable term is entered, a short definition of the substance appears, accompanied by its FEI classification and common trade names. A feedback function with automatic email acknowledgement allows users to seek further advice or clarification if necessary.

Users will only need to download the app once, as it will be automatically updated to incorporate new substances after annual reviews of the list take place.

Don Kapper, Director of Nutrition and Technical Services for Progressive Nutrition, will be in town and presenting his latest nutrition lecture. Since he last presented this lecture locally, he has added some updates with new slides and photos to help the horse owner/trainer manage their horses in training.

If time allows, Don will speak a bit on Equine Metabolic Syndrome.
There will be time allotted for questions.
